CMH recognizes years and hours of service, names Volunteer of Year
When Clinton Memorial Hospital was founded in 1927, volunteers played and integral role in the development and delivery of quality health care.
In celebration of current contributions to the hospital, Clinton Memorial honored volunteers’ achievements April 25 at its annual Volunteer Recognition Luncheon.
All volunteers in good standing were invited to share in the celebration, which recognized the exceptional achievements of 33 of the hospital’s 288 volunteers.
John Donahue of DeWitt was named 2008 Volunteer of the Year. A retired principal engineer and consultant as well as a support manager of lithography and military programs for Alpha Industries of Woburn, Mass., Donahue moved to Michigan a few years ago. He joined the Clinton Memorial family in October 2007 and has labored diligently to update the department’s material safety data sheets and electrical panel directories, implement a systemwide preventive maintenance program, and catalog all the building blueprints.
“When John applied for a volunteer position at the hospital, we weren’t certain how to best put his unique skills to work,” said Nan Simons, director of Clinton Memorial Hospital Community Relations & Marketing. “However, his outstanding resume brought him to the attention of our Plant Operations team. Since his arrival, John has become an indispensible member of that department. His pleasant manner and capable handling of assignments are greatly appreciated by everyone at the hospital.”
